Introduction To Fly Fishing / Fly Casting Course

Learn to fly fish with the help of the Kalamalka Fly Fishers Society Introduction to Fly Fishing / Fly Casting course.

The 2025 course starts on Tuesday, April 1st and runs the next five Tuesdays from 7 - 9 pm, concluding on April 29.

First Night Location.:   4607-23 St,  Vernon

Designed for the person who has never fly fished or as a great refresher for someone starting to fly fish again after a long lay-off, this course will teach you everything you need to know to start and enjoy the sport of fly fishing. The course covers equipment, knots, finding fish, local entomology and of course casting using a fly rod. Proper instruction in fly casting is essential to mastering the technique and enjoying the sport.

Each student will receive a detailed fly fishing / fly casting manual. Equipment is not needed for the first night. Each student will require a fly rod, reel and line for the rest of the course. The fly rod should be a 5 weight with matching floating line. Don’t worry if you don’t know what that is, you will by the end of the first night.

Cost: $133.90 plus tax (Vernon Residency Program Members (City of Vernon, District of Coldstream, Electoral Areas B & C (Including the OKIB)
